Compressing video with Streamable

July 06, 2023

When it comes to sharing or storing videos, file size can be a major concern. Large video files can take up significant storage space and consume valuable bandwidth when transferring over the internet. However, compressing video files can help reduce their size without compromising too much on quality.

How do I compress video on Streamable?

Anything you upload to Streamable will be optimized and compressed into a few quality formats. Upload a video that's a MOV, WMV, AVI, etc. and Streamable will automatically transcode your video into an MP4 at up to three different quality levels. Simply download your video or share it to send compressed videos seamlessly.

Why are some videos larger than others?

Video file size depends on a bunch of factors: file format, duration, resolution, frame rate, etc. By default, Streamable paid plans will provide a Standard resolution (up to 360p), a High Resolution (up to 720p), and a super high resolution (up to 2160p). The higher resolution video files will be larger than the lower resolution files.

The longer your video, the larger the file size. You can use Streamable's easy clipping functionality to shorten videos and further reduce your file size.

I don't see a compress video button

That's right, all videos you upload to Streamable will be optimized and compressed into up to three different quality levels. Simply share a link once they're uploaded and processed or download them directly from the site.
